41st Pacific Area Standards Congress Okayama JAPAN 2018

Welcome from JISC President

Dear PASC colleagues,

Dr. Hiroshi Tomono President of JISCOn behalf of the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, I am delighted to invite you all to the 2018 Annual General Meetings (AGM) of the Pacific Area Standards Congress in Okayama City, known as the Land of Sunshine.

The theme for the 2018 AGM is “Standards for Human Centered Society – How can standards support our sustainable and inclusive society?” The PASC region is home to more than half of the world’s population with vast diversity in cultures, and regional economic value chains are continuously expanding along with the development of cutting-edge technologies in the cyber-physical system. Standards should then play an important role in making sure that every aspect of the system is fully supportive of sustainable and prosperous futures. We would like to discuss the challenges and opportunities through our cooperative standardization activities in PASC.

In addition to the AGM, an open workshop linked to this year’s theme will be held before the general meeting. Experts in several fields related to the theme as well as young standards professionals will be invited to participate. We hope that you will join the workshop to share your valuable knowledge and experience with the participants.
